Ode To Lost Luggage

Flew to the East Coast and the trip wasn't the best I've ever taken. In fact, it ranks up there as the worst. Two nights (so far) without luggage. Once when we got fogged in at Atlanta (Monday night) and once when we arrived in Charleston. I blame Delta for at least part of the lousy trip experience, especially when I saw luggage sitting on the tarmac under the wing of our plane....and it was still there when we left...in the rain. I suspect my luggage was there, especially once it was delivered today and my wife's suitcase was soaking wet.

Anyway, it inspired my first song to be written in South Carolina (Charleston to be exact). It is also the first song of mine to be entirely written (lyrics wise) via Twitter. I wrote 3 verses and a chorus and posted it as I wrote it. I'll do a demo once I'm back home with my guitar in hand :)

Ode to Lost Luggage

As my laptop batt'ry's dyin', I wonder where you are
Last time I saw you was at the baggage check countor
I thought you'd stay with me forever and a day
How was I to know you'd lose your way

The screen is getting dimmer power draining on down
I listen for the phone to ring, but I don't hear a sound
Guess they still ain't found you to bring you back to me
Stuck in South Carolina awash in misery

(Chorus)
The bag check in my wallet, all that remains of you
Wish I was more understanding and made it easier on you
But one things for certain, one hard learned lesson
Power cords and underwear now go in carry-on

3 percent remaining in my battery display
Guess my song's been written, got nothin' else to say
The last line is the hardest, just makes this cowboy cry
Until I can recharge again, guess this is goodbye

Chorus

Power cords and underwear now go in carry-on

Following @DrewFromTV

@Drew has cancer and if you are on twitter you probably already know that. If you don't, check out Blamedrewscancer.com for more of the details. Anyway, @Drew has been working with Lance Armstrong's charity LIVESTRONG for a bit now and @Drew decided to auction off his @Drew name for a $10K minimum bid.

The awesome Mr. Drew Carey (@drewfromtv) put in a minimum bid of $25K. Then he upped it to $100K if he got 100K followers to @drewfromtv by November. THEN HE UPPED IT TO $1 MILLION IF HE GOT 1 MILLION FOLLOWERS BY 12/31/09. (sorry to yell but WOW). Anyway, if you are on twitter, please PLEASE follow him.

Drew is a super nice guy and is generating a ton of chatter about LIVESTRONG and cancer awareness, etc. Look at it this way, you can make a donation without doing anything. If you follow @DrewFromTV, he'll give them a dollar (up to one million dollars).

And if that isn't enough to motivate you, I've written a song http://tinyurl.com/yzc7fsn I'll turn it into a youtube vid tomorrow or the next day but the song is called FOLLOW @DrewFromTV. Give it a listen and if you are not convinced to follow @DrewFromTV, listen to it again....and again....and again until you give up and follow @DrewFromTV.

You will feel good following @DrewFromTV and as a bonus, if we @DrewFromTV gets 1 Million followers by 12/31, I'll pull the song down from my Reverbnation page....talk about win-win :)

Peace to you.

Hope Won't Die (I'm Wearing Green) YouTube Video

What inspires a song - Hope Won't Die

During my 2 years at FAWM.ORG I've learned that many things can inspire a song. The trick is to just keep your eyes open and when the song buds up, to give it encouragement and it will grow. Lately the events in Iran have been on my mind. I wrote a song a couple days before Neda was killed called Hope Won't Die (I'm Wearing Green). I believe the words were true when I wrote them, and I believe they are true now but now it is a sadder world. The crazies in Iran are repaying peaceful demonstrations with bullets and while they will one day pay for this, the blood will continue to run in the streets until then.

There have been many people who have spoken on the situation in Iran. I am not that skilled at expressing myself in a post so I try to convey what I'm feeling with my old guitar and a few lines.

I will post my YouTube Video of Hope Won't Die (I'm Wearing Green). An mp3 of the song is also available for a free download at my reverbnation page at http://www.reverbnation.com/billysea

The words are below and I hope they properly express my support for these brave people in Iran.

I saw those who I thought were my enemy
I was surprised to see that they looked like me
Just ordinary folk working for justice
And standing strong for what they believe

My avatar is sporting green on twitter
My time zone's plus 3:30 GMT
It looks like this whole world is changing
And I'll support their bid for history

(Chorus)
Hope won't die
While the dream stays alive
In their hearts
Yes they want a brand new start
And as long as they believe
I'm wearing green

The pictures of the bloodied men and women
The iron fist of Iran on attack
But change is in the air in that country
And filled with hope there ain't no turning back

Chorus

Chorus

Long as they believe
I'm wearing green
