Ode To Lost Luggage

Flew to the East Coast and the trip wasn't the best I've ever taken. In fact, it ranks up there as the worst. Two nights (so far) without luggage. Once when we got fogged in at Atlanta (Monday night) and once when we arrived in Charleston. I blame Delta for at least part of the lousy trip experience, especially when I saw luggage sitting on the tarmac under the wing of our plane....and it was still there when we left...in the rain. I suspect my luggage was there, especially once it was delivered today and my wife's suitcase was soaking wet.

Anyway, it inspired my first song to be written in South Carolina (Charleston to be exact). It is also the first song of mine to be entirely written (lyrics wise) via Twitter. I wrote 3 verses and a chorus and posted it as I wrote it. I'll do a demo once I'm back home with my guitar in hand :)

Ode to Lost Luggage

As my laptop batt'ry's dyin', I wonder where you are
Last time I saw you was at the baggage check countor
I thought you'd stay with me forever and a day
How was I to know you'd lose your way

The screen is getting dimmer power draining on down
I listen for the phone to ring, but I don't hear a sound
Guess they still ain't found you to bring you back to me
Stuck in South Carolina awash in misery

(Chorus)
The bag check in my wallet, all that remains of you
Wish I was more understanding and made it easier on you
But one things for certain, one hard learned lesson
Power cords and underwear now go in carry-on

3 percent remaining in my battery display
Guess my song's been written, got nothin' else to say
The last line is the hardest, just makes this cowboy cry
Until I can recharge again, guess this is goodbye

Chorus

Power cords and underwear now go in carry-on
Words/Music (c) 2009
