What inspires a song - Hope Won't Die

During my 2 years at FAWM.ORG I've learned that many things can inspire a song. The trick is to just keep your eyes open and when the song buds up, to give it encouragement and it will grow. Lately the events in Iran have been on my mind. I wrote a song a couple days before Neda was killed called Hope Won't Die (I'm Wearing Green). I believe the words were true when I wrote them, and I believe they are true now but now it is a sadder world. The crazies in Iran are repaying peaceful demonstrations with bullets and while they will one day pay for this, the blood will continue to run in the streets until then.

There have been many people who have spoken on the situation in Iran. I am not that skilled at expressing myself in a post so I try to convey what I'm feeling with my old guitar and a few lines.

I will post my YouTube Video of Hope Won't Die (I'm Wearing Green). An mp3 of the song is also available for a free download at my reverbnation page at http://www.reverbnation.com/billysea

The words are below and I hope they properly express my support for these brave people in Iran.

I saw those who I thought were my enemy
I was surprised to see that they looked like me
Just ordinary folk working for justice
And standing strong for what they believe

My avatar is sporting green on twitter
My time zone's plus 3:30 GMT
It looks like this whole world is changing
And I'll support their bid for history

(Chorus)
Hope won't die
While the dream stays alive
In their hearts
Yes they want a brand new start
And as long as they believe
I'm wearing green

The pictures of the bloodied men and women
The iron fist of Iran on attack
But change is in the air in that country
And filled with hope there ain't no turning back

Chorus

Chorus

Long as they believe
I'm wearing green
